Pilsen, Czechoslovakia, 5/7/45

The caption on the back of this photo says Pilsen, “Czechoslovakia,” 5/7/45.

On 5/8/45, just one day from the moment this picture was taken, the Allies formally accepted the unconditional surrender of the armed forces of Nazi Germany, putting an end to Hitler’s Third Reich. The war was over, and Czechoslovakia was under Communist control.  Who was on the plane, and what were they feeling as it took off?
